STARKVILLE, Miss. – Nearly 400 projects shared the floor at Humphrey Coliseum last month as the Bagley College of Engineering hosted the Region V Mississippi Science and Engineering Fair for students in sixth through 12th grades.
The project total nearly doubled that of last year and included entries from 42 public, private and home schools from Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Clay, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Lowndes, Montgomery, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Scott, Webster, and Winston counties.
Six participants were chosen to represent Region V MSEF at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, May 10-15. Seventh through 12th grade winners who placed first, second and third in their categories will participate in the State of Mississippi Science and Engineering Fair in Hattiesburg March 24.
In addition to the Bagley College of Engineering, the Region V Mississippi Science and Engineering Upper Fair sponsors include the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Tennessee Valley Authority and International Society of Optics and Photonics, among others.
