January 12, 2016

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Online programs in the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University attained a top 10 ranking in U.S. News and World Report’s national Best Online Program rankings.

The organization lists the Bagley College as 7th among the 83 schools included in the 2016 Best Online Graduate Engineering Program rankings. It is the only Southeastern Conference school ranked in the top 25.

Bagley’s No. 7 position marks the highest rating achieved by the program, after previously landing in a six-way tie for No. 20 in the 2015 ranking.

Other university programs include rankings at No. 22 for distance Master of Business Administration and Nos. 54 and 104 for online graduate programs in business and education, respectively.

U.S. News and World Report’s rankings are based on a school’s scores in five categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, students services and technology, peer reputation, and admissions selectivity. A program’s score is calculated using self-reported data and the results of a peer reputation survey completed by administrators at schools with online degree programs.

Established in 1933, U.S. News and World Report releases annual rankings of universities and individual academic programs from across the country. It first released rankings of online graduate programs in engineering in 2012. To access the complete rankings or find more information about U.S. News and World Report, visit www.usnews.com.
