Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering students receive honor society scholarships

STARKVILLE, Miss.— Two Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering students have received scholarships from Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society.
James H. Chalmers IV and Anamica Khadgi received $2,000 each for the 2024-2025 academic year. According to the honor society’s website, “all Tau Beta Pi scholarships are awarded on the competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.
Chalmers, a senior mechanical engineering major from Cumming, Ga, has been involved with organizations across campus, including marching in the Famous Maroon Band, serving with RUF, leading tours as a Bagley Ambassador, and conducting research with MSU’s Athlete Engineering Institute. Chalmers plans to pursue a graduate education in industrial engineering, where he can continue investigating human performance and technology related to athletes. Chalmers received the Stabile Scholarship named for Vincent A. Stabile.
Anamica Khadgi
Khadgi, a senior from Kathmandu majoring in biomedical engineering, has conducted research in evolutionary biology and completed a summer program at Emory University that investigated the effects of obesity on B-ALL progression. Khadgi is active in the MSU Student Government as a senator, competes nationally for the MSU Debate Team, and plans to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. program and aspires to engage in translational research in cancer immunology. Khadgi received the Record Scholarship, which honors Leroy E. Record.
Tau Beta Pi is the nation’s second-oldest honor society and is dedicated to instilling integrity and excellence in engineering. It was founded at Lehigh University in 1885. There are chapters at 251 colleges and universities with over 622,000 members today.
