Aerospace engineering students compete in team competitions at AIAA student conference

June 10, 2024

Six Mississippi State aerospace engineering teams participated at the recent 2024 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Region II Student Conference at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida.

Conner Evans, Gaige Sidaway, Britain Steele and Tyler Zeringue received second place in the Team Category with their senior seminar work “Validation and Development of an Atmospheric Electroaerodynamic Propulsion System,” in which they designed, built and tested an ion propulsion unit.

As the largest region with 412 participants, Region II includes students from Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. MSU aerospace engineering students represented 13% of student participants.
