Bagley College of Engineering alums receive AAPT Emmons Award runner-up recognition

We are thrilled to announce that four distinguished alumni from the Bagley College of Engineering have received prestigious recognition from the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologies.

Ben Cox, Jonathan Easterling, Griffin Sullivan, and Alex Middleton had their paper, Data Mining Statewide Department of Transportation Volumetrically Designed Asphalt Mixture Records, recognized by the AAPT this past fall at its annual meeting in San Diego as the Emmons Award Runner-Up.

Presented annually since 1949, the Walter J. Emmons Award is a prestigious accolade in the field of asphalt technology. The winning paper and runners-up are recognized at the AAPT annual meeting, the premier forum for asphalt technical publications. Per the AAPT website, being acknowledged by the Emmons Award Committee as a runner-up signifies that a paper stands out as one of the "best of the best."

With over 800 members worldwide, the AAPT is a leader in the advancement of asphalt paving technology. Members depend on the association as an authoritative source for the latest developments in the field and as a hub for communicating with fellow professionals.

AAPT’s three-day Annual Meeting is held every year. It includes asphalt-related technical sessions, symposiums, and workshops presented by experts worldwide in all aspects of asphalt paving technology. Since 1928, these Annual Meeting papers have been published in AAPT’s Annual Journal. The Journal now consists of 89 volumes and is a widely referenced and prestigious source of literature in the field.
