Electric Power and Metering School Announcement

The 42^nd annual Electric Power and Metering School will be held on April 3-6 in the Colvard Student Union on Mississippi State University’s main campus in Starkville.

The Electric Power and Metering School provides an opportunity for the electric utility community in Mississippi to learn and discuss new opportunities in metering, testing, apparatus and relaying, and industry trends. The four-day event will include various events such as specialized workshops, vendor exhibits, lectures and an industry keynote speaker Michael Callahan, Executive Vice President/CEO of Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi. Attendees will also have the chance to experience the spirit of Mississippi State with a Monday night social at the Gridiron Club in Davis Wade Stadium and tickets to see MSU baseball at Dudy Noble Field.

The metering school was originally started by professor Paul B. Jacob, who ran the program from 1950 through 1990. After a short hiatus, the metering school began again in the summer of 2022 as the Electrical Power and Metering School.

Bagley College of Engineering dean Jason Keith spoke about the importance of MSU supporting the school.

“In its role as a land grant university, Mississippi State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is carrying out a decades-long tradition of offering a metering school. These workshops provide an outstanding forum for professionals in the electric utility industry.”

The metering school will be held in the Colvard Student Union. Parking will be available at the Zacharias Village parking lot.
