MSU Bagley College of Engineering celebrates annual research achievements

As the MSU Bagley College of Engineering begins to wind down another calendar year, the college is recognizing several of its faculty, staff and student achievements.

"As a land-grant major research university, our mission is to promote and advance knowledge for the sake of improving human life. I am proud of the hard work and dedication of the faculty, staff and students who have been recognized by the Office of Research and Economic Development with these awards," Jason Keith, dean of the Bagley College of Engineering, said.

Honorees for 2022 include:

Ralph E Powe Research Excellence Award — Robert Moorhead, ECE/GRI

  • Robert Moorhead has been truly prolific in his research career, participating in over $300M in research funding and revolutionizing his field in the area of image processing and precision agriculture. Moorhead is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Geosystems Research Institute.

Emerging Research Scholar Award — Bo Tang, assistant professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Bo Tang is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and has received two CAREER awards with research interests in the area of machine learning in the area of cyber-physical systems.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award — Reuben Burch, associate professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

  • Reuben Burch is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and is an associate director at CAVS. His research and innovation in wearable sensors for human performance assessment have led to new research avenues, most notably in the area of athlete engineering.
