The Bagley College of Engineering will welcome guests from the Space Foundation on Wednesday as a part of the college’s Distinguished Speaker Series.
The seminar, entitled “Space: The Sky is not the Limit,” will take place on Wednesday, April 12, at 2:30 p.m., in McCool Hall’s Rogers Auditorium.
Led by the Space Foundation’s Shelli Brunswick and Bryan DeBates, the duo will explore the possibilities of working in the space industry, the future of STEM education and the impact the global space economy has on daily life.
Brunswick serves as the Space Foundation’s chief operating officer and acting chief executive officer and is responsible for the organization’s operations, personnel, facilities and processes. The retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel also serves as the 2016-2017 Chair of Women in Aerospace, with a commitment to increasing the leadership opportunities for women in the aerospace community.
As the Space Foundation’s vice president of education, DeBates works to develop and implement global education programs with a focus on science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. He also oversees the organization’s Discovery Center space museum and education center and labs, which include a Mars Robotics Laboratory and an AGI Space Missions Simulation Laboratory.
