STARKVILLE, Miss. –The Bagley College of Engineering is proud to announce the 2009 inductees into its Student Hall of Fame. This award recognizes students who have made outstanding contributions to their departments, the college and Mississippi State during their time here at MSU. The six students whose biographies are included below have been selected from nominations made by the faculty, staff and students of the college.
Amy Arnold is a senior civil engineering major from Seabrook, TX. Amy is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers where she started during her first year as the freshman representative for this organization. Since then she has continued her active participation moving up to the chair of conferences and being actively involved in both the concrete canoe and steel bridge projects. Amy is also the vice president of Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society, and has completed three summer internships at the US Army Corps of Engineers, Chevron, and Exxon Mobil. She has participated in several service projects including helping Starkville High School students build a concrete canoe, working with girl scouts to earn engineering badges, and serving as a tutor for the Boys and Girls club in Starkville.
William Cleveland is a senior computer and aerospace engineering double major from Gulfport, MS. William has been highly active in both of his majors, serving as the student chair of IEEE and participating on the team Xipiter UAS team within aerospace. William is also student vice president of Phi Kappa Phi and president of Tau Beta Pi as well as a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the honor society of electrical and computer engineers and Sigma Gamma Tau, the honor society of aerospace engineers. William has been an active member of the Shackouls Honors College’s student council and the Engineering Student Council. William participated in the Korea Global Leadership Tour and has done research at the NASA Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars Program.
Stacey Galloway is a senior industrial engineering major from Roswell, GA. She began her involvement early in her MSU career, serving as vice president of the Freshman Engineering Student Council in the fall of 2005 and then as the director of this program in 2006. Stacy has served as an Engineering Ambassador for the college as well as an Industrial and Systems Engineering Representative. Stacey has represented the Bagley College of Engineering across campus in Chi Omega sorority, Roadrunner, the Wesley Foundation, the Appalachian Leadership Honors Program, and the MSU Student Association. She is already the recipient of the Spirit of State award. Currently, Stacey is in Washington, D.C. serving as a congressional intern in Senator Wicker’s office.
Andy Lindeman is a senior computer science major from Madison, AL. Andy has served as chair of the Shackouls Honors College’s student council during which he worked to bring more service activities into this organization. Andy has been actively involved in research in the Institute for Digital Biology, which led to a poster presentation in a national conference. In addition, Andy was one of two student members on the Academic Integrity Assessment Committee that led the implementation of MSU’s Honor Code. Andy has participated in trips to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to help rebuilding efforts with three different student organizations. Andy is also an active recruiter for MSU with service during Scholars Recognition Day and Breakfast of Champions and through service on the Distinguished Scholars Selection Committee. Andy is also a recipient of the Spirit of State award and has served on the selection committee for this award as well.
Stephanie Rodgers is a senior chemical engineering major from Vicksburg, MS. Stephanie began her academic career at Jones County Junior College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and president of the Engineering Society. At MSU, she is an active member of the honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, and Omega Chi Epsilon. Stephanie is also very active in community service through AIChE and conducted a workshop at the national student convention on how to incorporate service activities into student chapters. This year Stephanie is also serving as a mentor in the engineering living/learning community in Hull Hall providing tutoring and mentoring to freshman engineering students.
Jonathan Rudd is a senior mechanical engineering major from Batesville, MS. Jonathan has participated as a volunteer in the BEST robotics competition on campus for three years and served as the parliamentarian of the Black Student Alliance in his sophomore year. Jonathan also served as the team leader in the MSU Motorsports Formula SAE team that participated in the Collegiate Design competition at Virginia International Raceway in 2008. The team earned 5th place in engineering design and 14th overall out of the 50 teams at the competition. Jonathan led the team in all aspects of the competition from raising funds to designing the car. He also participated in the MSU Research Experience for Undergraduates program in the summer of 2008 conducting research to verify the computational simulations of two- and three-phase composites.
